1) Cambridge House - Big Hoppy - Dipa 10% or so...not bad a bit malty for my tastes though.
2) Terrapin - Wake n Bake - Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout. 8.1% - Coffee Bomb - 2011 vintage. This has to be insane fresh!
3) Independence Brewing - Convict Hill - Oatmeal Stout - 9.2% - Not bad at all. I think stouts and porters are going to be the way to go today!

Coming up to Christmas Beer Review!
May do this in several stages...who knows!
1) Karbach Brewing - Yule Shoot your Eye Out - Winter Warmer 8% - I guess a Winter Warmer is a brown ale with spices. I do like the style though and this does not dissapoint. Karbach is from Texas and the label is funny, kind of based on the Christmas Story movie, a picture of the leg lamp is on the label etc. Have a bourbon barrel aged version coming shortly!
2) Clown Shoes - Porcine Unidragon - RIS BB aged 12.5% - I logged this but I think I passed out...trying to get things in order. By the way I know why I passed out!
3) Smuttynose - Zinneke - Belgian Style Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels - Don't get much of the expected bananna yeast tice but a load of cherry. No bourbon to speak of.
4) Foothills Brewing - Peoples Porter - 6.0% - Nice English Porter, a tad hoppy!
5) Maine Beer Company - King Titus - American Porter - 7.5% - Guy at Decicco's told me as good as HF Everett...no! Still good though!
6) Charter Oak Brewing - 1687 Brown Ale - Not bad contract brewed
7) St. Arnolds - Pumpkinator - Abv ??? - Might have kicked my ass!

Kinda Weekend Beer Review!
Hit up Captain Lawrence the other day, they have a nice tasting room where you can sample some of their experimental beers. This one (Autumn Ambush - Pilot Batch 16) is a brown ale brewed with Belgian Yeast and Italian Seasoning. If you like spicy beers this is up your alley!

Another top 100 done
Number 68!
Cascade - Sang Noir - 9.5% - Wild Ale - Really looking forward to this one! Poured into a wine glass.
A) Very nice ruby red thin head that quickly dissipates.
S) Very ripe cherries, one of the better smelling beers I've had!
T) Starts out nicely tart but midway through there is some sweetness from the cherries to balance out. Nice acidity at the end.
M) Carbonation is mild. Alcohol very well hidden.
Enjoyed this one alot!
Also going to through in a NebCo one I forgot about
New England Brewing - Premeditated Murder!
This is an interesting beer. Had a bottle a few days ago and thought it was pretty much of a Malt Bomb. The one I have right now is very hoppy. This one is so much better IMHO, there is so much up front hoppiness that is balanced out with a nice creamy caramel and toffee. Was going to give one of the bottles I picked up as a gift...not now! Well done!

3) Half Full Brewery - Rye IPA - 6% or so Picked up a growler yesterday at this relatively new CT. Brewery, nice beer I think the Rye at times can be a bit much. Looking forward to more from this group!

Gonna be a long weekend beer review!
Right to it!
1) Harpoon - White IPA 6.2% - Very good nice combination of Simcoe, Cascade and Citra hops with some nice belgian spiciness. Should have been released over the summer as it would be perfect for the season. Nice beer!
2) http://backeastbrewing.com/- Misty Mountain IPA - New Brewery in the Hartford are. Decided to take a ride up there today. Not the citrus bomb that I usually go for but more of a DogFish Head 60 min type of beer. Would buy again.

Bell' s Brewery, This one goes to 11.....11% that is very good American Strong ale. Wish I had one to age!
Another top 100 review!
Poured into a teiku glass. Very nice orange color with a soft white head. The nose is pretty outstanding all of the whiffs for what comes next...Citrus galore, grapefruit, orange, lemon zest and you get a bit of balance with some apricot and mango notes. The finish is nice and soft. Carbonation is medium. Fantastic beer there are some lucky folks who live near this brewery!
By the way Three Floyds Zombie Dust!

1) Surly Wet - 7.5% - American IPA - Brewed exclusively with Simcoe Hops - This is an absolute hop bomb. What a tasty treat. Bottom of the can says canned on 10/1/12. Just a baby!

All Week Beer Review!
Alot of sports going on so I am going to continue on. Plus I need to make rook in the fridge as I have 4 boxes coming!
1) East End Brewing - Smokestack Heritage Porter - 6.8% - Nice smoked porter received in a trade. Finely got around to this. A bit thin which is what I would figure but a nice amokiness. Glad to have ticked!
2) Green Flash - Double Stout - Very dry and malty, there is a bitter chocolate and burnt coffee taste as well. Not sure where the 8.8% alcohol is. Glad they have finally come to CT.
3) Central Waters - Kasmyk Charlies Y2k Catastrophe Ale - 10% another BW from these fine folks, except not barrel aged. BA says it is an American Style but I get more of an English feel as there is absolutely no hops whatsoever. Pretty tasty!
4) Alltech's Lexington Brewing - Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale - 8.19% - English strong ale, Nice amber color and you really get a load of vanilla with this. A little bitter at the end though which does not bode well for the morning commute. Overall not bad!

Weekend Beer Review!
1) Evil Twin Brewing - Imperial Biscotti Break - 11% This finally hit the NYC area in bottles, Pours a very nice black and with a swirl of the glass you get a nice brown hue. Little carbonation noted. The taste is really great. Outstanding balance between coffee, chocolate, vanilla and anise. Such a desert beer. Don't age this, drink it fresh if you can!
Well done! Another top 100 beer ticked!
2) Ommegang - Scythe & Sicle - 5.8% - Biere De Garde - This is a welcome respite from the usual pumpkin ale/octoberfest nonsense. This should be a recurring seasonal beer.
3) Bootlegger's Brewery - Black Phoenix - 6.7% - Chipotle Coffee Stout. Has some really nice Chocolate & Coffee notes with a nice slight pepper burn. Nice beer!
4) Half Acre - Daisy Cutter Pale Ale - Wow what a hop bomb! Exceptional!

Weekend Beer Review!
At it!
1) Shipyard Monkey Fist - 6.9% - What they said they were trying to do was merge the English and American IPA styles. I think they did this farely well - Growler Serving...would most likely have again.
2) Green Flash - Linch Pin - White IPA - 7.0% Brewed in collaboration with Founders. Pretty damn tasty. The citrus and the belgian yeast really compiment each other. Very refreshing given the ABV. Would definely have again!

2) Widmer Brothers - Raspberry Russian Imperial Stout '12 - 9.3% - Get the coffee and some mild tartness that I guess is the raspberries. They recommend aging this but I am not sure what that would do to the mild fruit flavor. Recommendation...drink fresh!
3) Relic Brewing - Prologue - 5.4% - Freaking tasty beer - Really get the Rye Flavor. I think I got the last bottle at the Brewery and it won't be around till neaxt year. This is so good!

1) Founders - Curmudgeons Better Half - 11.9% - Old Ale Brewed with Molasses and aged in maple syrup bourbon barrels (Oh My!) A) Looking directly down in the glass this is a very nice amber brown with a thin head that quickly dissipates. S) Bourbon, Maple and a bit of Vanilla. T) Bourbon is definitely up front, followed by the maple and molasses. Vanilla is also present. There is a nice spiciness as well. M) Very smooth alchohol is very well hidden. O) Great beer....wish I had another!
2) Laguintas New Dog town pale Ale - Very underrated pale ale!
3) Flying Dog - Wildeman Farmhouse IPA - 7.5% - Belgian IPA - The hops aren't really there but the spice is very prevalent. I think this is a Saison.
4) Elysian - Idiot Sauvin IPA - 6.3% - Not sure I am thrilled with this hop at all. A little to oily.
5) Clipper City Brewing - Plank II - Dopplebock 8.5% - I like the beer style but wht=y release this in the spring?

2) Captain Lawrence - Barrel Select Black Ale - 10% Wild Style for sure! The sourness is not overwhelming I like this. Easily obtainable at the brewery.
3) Brasserie De La Sene - 5.2% - Belgian Pale Ale - Collaboration with Allagash. Kind of bitterly hoppy (may be too much so). Pretty tasty though.

Why not early beer review!
1) Sebago Brewing - Elegans Saison - Single Batch series 6.1% - Different take on the style. Brewed with something called pineapple sage (???wtf). A reviewer on BA felt that this would be better released for the summer...I agree.
2) Dogfish Head - Tweason'ale - 6.0% - A gluten free beer! Fairly tasty almost kind of a wine cooler. Nice hint of strawberries and honey. Another summer beer.
3) Cantillon Kriek 100% Lambic - Pours a nice pink cranberry color, head quickly dissipates. Smell is cherries and some sour yeast. Got some serious action going on in the taste...cheeries and the tartness abounds. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated and a total pucker fest. Great beer
4) Saranac - Chocoalte Orange - Robust Porter -9.0% Good beer just don't get the orange taste. Chocolate is there though!
5) Peak Organic - Oak Aged Mocha - 8.4% - Pretty decent beer get the coffee a bit of chocolate and some vanilla from the oak. At 6.99 a bomber, not bad at all!
6)Sam Adams - Longshot 5 Crown Imperial Stout - 8.9% - This 6 pack represents 3 winners of a homebrew contest. This is a pretty decent stout a little hop forward, mix in a bit of chocolate and cofee. Damn fine effort by a home brewer!
7) Sam Adams - Longshot - A Dark Night in Munich 5.9% - A nice Dunkel Lager. Well done again!

Weekend Beer Review!
And I am going on a Bender! No Not Norm
1) Olde Hickory - Irish Walker - 10.0% - English Style Barleywine. No Hops at all but a very smooth malt caramel bomb. This is so tasty. Got this via a trade. Pretty outrageous! Another Bottle is going into the cellar immediately!
2) New England Brewing - 668 Chardonneighbor Of The Beast been waiting for this...all hail the Goat Lord! (668 beer aged in Chardonnay Barrels)
A) Pour reveals a nice golden hue, head quickly dissipates.
S) Probably one of the best I have had relative to the smell. Chardonnay really pops.
T) Not at all like the base beer, the phenols have muted and what you have is a nice wine forward taste. There is a lot of oak and vanilla with just a nice finish of pepper.
M) Very tart...I like!
O) I agree with the first reviewer...their best beer!
3) 21'st Ammendment - Lower da Boom - Barleywine...kind of weak.
4) Green Flash - Palate Wrecker 9.5% - Great beer! Absolutely no malts all hops. Great grapefruit zest taste!
5) Ommegang - Art of Darkness - 8.9% - Very good belgian strong dark ale. Better than seduction.

Gonna Start Early Beer Review!
Right to it.....
1) Firestone Walker - Double Barrel Ale - 5.0% - English Pale Ale - Malts up front a little piney oily hops. What you would expect for the style. Would prefer a tropic bomb. Glad to have tried.
2) Pretty Things - Lovely Saint Winifride - 7.0% - Euro Dark Lager - Pretty damn biteer. Love these guys as brewers, not a fan of the style. A bit too bitter.
3) Alesmith - X 5.0% - Extra pale Ale. Got this as part of a trade and believe I can get this in NY. One of the better pale ale's out there.
4) Bluepoint - No Apologies DIPA - 10% - Good - I think I got spoiled with the Ghandi Bot today though.
5) Stone Brewing - More Brown than Black IPA - 7% - Collaboration with the Alchemist and some other brewer. Best nose beautiful floral notes. Tasty too!
6) Alpine Beer Company - Alpine Ale - 5.0% - Nice Extra Pale Ale...slightly too malty at the end. Reason to move to California noted.
7) Goose Island - Bramble Rye Bourbon County Brand Stout - 12.7 % - Bottle number 1022 poured into a snifter glass. Pours a nice jet black, no head which is to be expected given the experiences with its cousins. A little red hue is noticed at the edges. The nose gives off some very nice rasberry smell. Taste is very interesting as you get that classic BCBS flavor but it is a bit different with the raspberry and blackberry flavors. The berries are up front and the finish is whiskey. This is very good hopefully this is not the last we see of this.

Weekend Beer Review! (St. Paddy's Day Version)
Uh Oh!
1) Dogfish Head - Noble Rot - 9% - A Saison with a bit of a grape forward taste (which they tell you about). This is nice. Extremely drinkable and crystal clear. Might get another one if it hangs around long enough.
2) Dogfish Head - 75 Minute IPA - A mix of 60 and 90. This was brewed with Maple syrup. This was formally known as Johnny Cask but they had to change the name due to IP reasons. I've seen different reviews on this. It is good but not as hop forward as advertized.
3) Maine Beer Company - MO - 6.0% - Very tasty pale ale. Thankfully it is available in NY.
4) Oskar Blues - Deviant Dales 8% - Not sure of the difference between tins and Gubna but very well done!

1,100!
Relic Brewing - Antiquity - Olde Ale - 7.2%
Connecticut's newest nano/microbrewery - much sucess wished!
Poured into a brandy snifter. Pours a nice coal black. Thin foamy head. Wasn't sure about the head almost a bit medicinal. Taste gave way to some coffee/toffee, plum and raisin. There is a bit of a bunt feeling to the flavors that is kind of nice. A bit of an astingent finish but over all a pleasing experience.
Look forward to more from this brewer.

Mikkeller & 3 Floyds - Boogoop. Buckwheat Wheatwine Ale - 10.4% - Poured into Lost Abbey chalice! Murky browish orange. You get some nuttiness upfront from the buckwheat lemony, piney hoppiness to finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Very good beer...thank god 3 Floyds was involved with this because who knows what Mikkeler would have done!
Hey 1099 is a tax form....psych!

1098) New England Brewing - Scrumtulescent Saison - 6% from a growler
Always a pleasure to try a new NebCo offering and these guys have been going in all sorts of directions lately.
Poured into a goblet. The appearance is a nice cloudy yellow with a fluffy white head that quickly dissipates. The smell is of some mild lemon and a bit of funky yeast. The taste starts off with some lemon zest followed by yeast and finishes with a very nice peppery afterglow! Nice mild carbonation.
Another hit from the NebCo guys!

1097) Kuhnhenn - Prometheus - 11% - Belgian Strong Dark Ale - Nice and Dangerously drinkable. A bit much on the clove but that is OK. Thank God they distribute to NYS!

Weekend Beer Review!
Going to Brooklyn tomorrow and have this nonsense going on Saturday. Oh boy!
1) Kuhnhenn 4th Dimentia Olde Ale - 2011 version at a whopping 13.5% poured into a brandy snifter. The appearance is murky brown, no head at all. The smell is of rasins butter rum and toffee. The taste combines the same with just a hint of oak. The mouthfeel is slick. Great beer...cellar worthy for sure!
2) Kuhnhenn 9 - Belgian Strong Ale 10.0% - Nice plum and cotton candy. Maybe a bit too sweet for the style. Their olde ale is where their expertise is at.

1) Fantomme Saison - 8.0% Appearance) Nice golden hue with a little frothy head. Smell) A bit metallic...phenols coming through. Weekend Beer Review!
Pretty lame showing last week....hopefully will be making up for lost beer! Might hit 1,100 by next week or so. Have something special for that.
1) Lagunitas - Imperial Red - 7.8% - Tasty strong ale. Thought this would have been a bit hoppier but the IBU's are at 54. This is way too easy to drink.
2) Sixpoint - Spontaneous Contruction - Smoked Beer unknown ABV - Not a big fan of smoked beer but this is really good. There is a nice sweetness to this that is balance with just a slight bit of smokiness. Well done Sixpoint!
3) Bear Republic - Mach 10 - 9.2% - A Bit more malty and bitter than I would like. Kind of like these guys wanted to make an east coast IPA.
4) Midnight Sun Sockeye Red ...nice IPA done!
4) McTarnahan's - Spine Tingler Tripel 8.5% - Bubble gum bomb!...nice but too sweet.

Weekend Beer Review!
Nice day for a drive....hit the new Captain Lawrence Location, DeCicco's (of course and the Peekskill Brewery (with a stop at the Birdsall House)!
1) Peekskill Brewery Tropical Thunder 5.5% - A not quite so pale ale. This could easily be a go to beer. The fruitiness is incredible!
2) Samuel Adams - Mighty Oak Ale - 5.7% - Kind of a Griffin's Bow light. Nice vanilla taste!
3) Samuel Adams Black Lager - 4.9% - Man cheating on this Sam's Seasonal. Schwarzbier with just a mild smokiness. Pretty tasty!

Couple of Specialties Beer review!
Which may be expanded at my idiotic whim....
1) Firestone Walker 15 - 12.5% - Poured into a FW Snifter - This beer is a nice reddish brown when held up to the light. A little bit of a head. From the smell I get caramel and vanilla. From the taste, the caramel and vanilla return but there is also raisin and the barrel oakiness. Sweetness is really there. The alchohol is hidden but this beer is to be had at home. This is a blend that is 76% Barleywine, 19% Imperial Stout and 5% DIPA. The Frankenstein of beers.
2) Deschutes - Hop Henge Experimental IPA - 8.5% - Main beer in the recent trade. This is a very solid DIPA. Love the Hop bitterness yet there is some underlying sweetness!
3) Sam Adams - Dark Depths - Black IPA - 7.6% Nice Chocolate and Hops!
4) Sixpoint - Resin - 9.1% - Double IPA which is very tasty but leans more towards the piney taste of the hops rather than the tropical fruit notes that the west coast produces. I give these guys credit for bucking the trend here. The graphics on their cans are pretty outstanding.
5) Midnight Sun - CoHoHo - Imperial IPA -8% - IPA brewed with brown sugar, honey and juniper berries? A bit too much.
6) Olde Burnside - Amazing Grace 2011 - 10.0% - These guys make scotch ales taste good! This is the Ten Penny Reserve aged in French Cognac Barrels.
7) Jester King - Black Metal 10.4% - Pretty Outrageous Imperial stout. Bold coffee notes.
8) Clown Shoes - Vampire Slayer - Thin and done!

Weekend Beer Review!
1) Lawsons Finest Liquids - Double Sunshine IPA - 8.0% Thrilled to even have a chance to try this...poured into a tulip glass. Appearance) Nice golden hue with a frothy head, very good retention. Taste) Oh man this is fantastic. Upfront sweetness from the mango and pineapple is prevalent. Some lemon zest shows up in the middle and the finish is crystal clean. When you have a beer that gives you all the flavors up front and finishes this clean you have something special. Overall) These hops rule!
2) Samuel Adams - Cinder Bock - 9.4% - Interesting beer from their small batch series....get so interesting sweetness up front, then so smokiness in the back. Alchohol extremely well hidden. For 6.99 a bomber not bad!
3) Cambridge Brewing Company - Tripel Threat - 10.0% - Supposedly the first commercially produced US Tripel. Tasty but kind of a Tripel light.
4) Cambridge Brewing Company - 8.0% The Audacity of Hops - OK this is an off take on a Pre preseidential Obama memoir...But still this beer is very good. My only issue is that this is supposed to be a Belgian IPA but drinks like a DIPA.
5) Slumbrew - Happy Sol 5.5% - This is a brewery from Mass (great name). This is a Hefeweizen brewed with Honey and Blood Oranges. Pretty tasty although I don't get the phenols I would like.
6) Deschutes Brewery - Hop in the Dark - 6.9% - Received in a trade...Their black IPA. A little past the freshness date (but that was made up in the trade). Still worth the deal.
7) Saint Arnold - Divine Reserve 11 - Another one from the trade...a bit old but still good! This is a double IPA.
8) Boulevard Brewing - Chocolate Ale - 9.1% -
The Chocolate flavor is kind of nice. Get a bit more vanilla than I would have thought. Very easy drinking....

Post Superbowl Beer Review!
Ugly day today...up to late watching the game....drank too much during post game...remedy....beer review!
1) Brooklyn Brewery - Mary's Maple Porter - 7.2% - Nice porter a light body with just a slight hint of maple. Easy drinking.
2) Alpine Beer Co - Pure Hoppiness - 8.0% - Extra in a trade...Appearance) Nice golden hue slight foamy head. Taste) Wow this is a hop bomb! Nice flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, lemon...this is a treat. This beer is absolutely fantastic. Good fortune to have had!
3) Alpine Beer Co - Exponential Hoppiness - 11.0% Appearance) Nice kind of murky orange, slight translucent head. Taste) You get the pineapple and grapefruit I am getting a load of lemon zest but the malt quickly compensates to balance this out. There is some oak and vanilla as well. This is very interesting! The flavors of this beer run the gamut. Mouthefeel) Nicely carbonated and nicely sticky! Alcohol is not noticeable. Overall) I really like this....have had some of these amped up IPA's that have needed some ageing. This is best fresh!
4) Live Oak - Hefeweizen - 5.2% Growler as part of a trade. I fell in love with this style last summer, the combination of the clove, banana and bubble gum is pedominant as it should be. There is a nice bitterness at the end which quickly goes away. Third top 100 beer reviewed this week.

SuperBowl Beer Review!
Went Growler Hunting NebCo had a new release and found a new Hooker! (Go G-Men)!
1) New England Brewing - Ghost Pigeon Porter - Suprise (at least to me) from New England Brewing. Poured into a tulip glass. Appearance - Nice deep dark black, small tan head which quickly dissipates. Taste - Charred coffe, cocoa with some licorice undertones. This finishes with a nice hoppy bitternes (40 IBU's). I like this combination. Nice to have found this tasty treat. Hopefully it goes into the rotation.
2) Thomas Hooker - Chocolate Truffle Stout - 6.3% Appearnce - Totally black tan head.
Taste - Chocolate dominates... this is the reason for this beer. The chocolatier that they utilized is a local CT. one. There is a nice sweetness to this without it being too much of a sugar bomb. Mouthfeel - Creamy, this is chocolate milk for adults. Great beer which is slighly sneaky on the ABV!
3) Samuel Adams - Whitewater IPA - 5.8% - Pretty tasty IPA - Get a little apple and cinnamon with this. Wasn't Whitewater a Clinton Scandal!

Countdown to SuperBowl Beer Review!
Right to it...go Big Blue!
1) Magic Hat - Howl - 4.6% - Thought I had reviewed this...I guess not - Pretty nice winter offering. Too bad not available year round.
2) Full Pint Brewing Co - Festivus - 6% - Brown Ale - Spices are Cinnamon and Vanilla and there are all sorts of other stats on the label. The Seinfeld gang should drink this.
3) Odell Brewing - Cutthroat Porter - 5.0% - Pleasant porter. According to the bottle, not quite a stout yet not a lightweight....the Mitt Romney of beers!
4) BFM Brasserie Des Franches-Montagnes - Spike and Jeromes Cuvee Delirante - Collaboration with Terrapin...supposed to be a barleywine....very good flemish red!
5) Flying Dog - Kujo Imperial Coffee Stout - 8.90% - Leave it to Flying Dog to make a Starbucks Imperial Stout!

Weekend Beer Review!
Actually starting on the weekend no less!
1) Spider Bite Brewing - First Bite Pale Ale 5.5% - Might be the first commercially available nanobrewery beer that I have had. Very tasty very fresh. I believe this has been hopped with Citra. The fruit notes are really there. Looking forward to more of their offerings.
2) Lagunitas - Fusion 7 6.8% - Supposedly a DIPA...wow too malty. Suprised at Lagunitas.
3) Sam Adams - Alpine Spring - 5.5% - Pretty tasty but this should be released when it is closer to 80 degrees and humid. This would be a great summer beer.
4) Element - Extra Special Oak - 7.75% - English Strong Ale - Boozy, a little vanilla, not much else.

Might as well continue...and make it a weekend!
The post previously was supposed to be Mass related only....however going to make this a muddled mess!
1) The Bruery - Saison Rue - 8.5% - Brewed with Rye and Brett - Light yellow colour, frothy head. Champagned yeast and funk about. Just a little over carbonated for my tastes, but certainly well done.
2) Bells - Porter - 5.6% - Nice easy drinking beer. A little smoke and a little creamy. I like it....may do another porter.
Snow today on Saturday....what to do, what to do!
3)Barrington Brewery - Pale Ale - From last weeks haul. This is tasty and for $3.25 a bomber a great value.
4)Barrington Brewery - Black Bear Stout - This is actually very good. One of the better stouts I have had.
5) North Coast Brewing - 11.5% Poured into a brandy snifter. Nice black body, creamy black head minimal lacing. Smell) Bourbon and chocolate dominate. Taste) Chocolate, coffee hint of oak with a nice bourbon finish. This is sweet but not overly so which can be an issue with the style.
Very tasty offering. I think I may get another bottle for the cellar.
6) Magic Hat - Demo - My first Magic Hat review - Interesting! 6.0% Black IPA - Pretty nice, sweet and light hops!
7) Barrington Brewery - Brown Ale - Not bad get a hint of maple sugar here.

Peoples Republic of Mass Trip!
1) Boulevard Brewing - Bourbon Barrel Quad - 11.5% Had been looking for this one for a bit and finally found it this weekend. Bottle number 4375 poured into a Boulevard Tulip Glass. Nice Amber color frothy head. The smell brings this beer down. It is a bit medicinal for me. The taste is better than the nose, the cherries abound with a bit of vanilla. The bourbon does really finish this off. I can see the high marks for this. Wish it was a bit less hot!
2) Barrington Brewery - Yule Fuel - 11.0% - Kind of a fruit cake barleywine...Alchohol is very well hidden!
3) Barrington Brewery - IPA - Mild IPA
4) Element Brewing - Red Giant - 8.0% - Nice...they are not going for the Nugget Nectar audience as this is a bit malty. Glad to have tried!

Starting Early Beer Review!
Have a brewery trip planned for the weekend so I figure away we go!
1) Uinta - Dubhe Imperial Black IPA - 9.2% - Gotta like the Oxymoronic look and taste. It looks like a stout and tastes like an IPA. What seals this is the sweet maltiness. Great beer!
2) Element Brewing - A new Brewer to CT from the Peoples Republic of Mass!
Dark Element American Balck Ale - 8.0% - This is pretty fantastic the sweetness of the malts is really balanced by the hop bitterness. I get some mild chocolate and coffee with the resinous hops. Would wonder what this would be like is the hops were featured more.
3) Harpoon Black IPA Was lucky enough to get this before it went on the shelves, thanks Dan!
Poured into a brandy snifter.
The appearance is a nice opaque black, the nose is a dominant pine and the taste follows up on that with some slight cocoa and coffe. Very easy drinking!
4) Widmer Bros - Rotator IPA (O'Ryely) - 6.4% - Freshness date 10.5.11 - My fault I did not know that they were doing this in different recipes. This is still a solid beer. Would have liked to have had fresh!

Weekend Beer Review!
Growlering today.....
1) Brooklyn Brewery - The Companion - 10.0% Wheat Wine - Really banana yeasty taste. I like these wheat wines wish more places would brew them. They are sneaky!

Well that was an intelligent review....good beer though..
Continuing on as I am too lazy to start a new thread....
3) 21st Ammendment - Allies win the War English Strong Ale - 8.5% Kind of a light quad.
4) Sierra Nevada - Ruthless Rye IPA - 6.2% or thereabouts...kind of tasty the rye is a bit bitter...I need to get back on my game with these reviews!

Dark Apparition
Jackie O's Dark Apparition 10.5%.....have a great picture for this will clean this up this weekend!
Poured into a tulip glass
A) Jet black, head really fades away, a swirl leaves a little lacing.
S) Burnt coffee dominates followed by molasses.
T) The coffee and molasses again slight caramel and and a nice bitter chocolate. Alcohohol at 10.5% is there but not overly so.
M) Nice grainy texture.
O) I really liked this as it was not overly sweet. I thought this was fairly easy to drink given the ABV. I have a brandy barrel version still lying around that may not make it through the weekend!

Back to work Beer Review!
Figured I treat myself to some brews now that my cold is subsiding a bit (and I can see how the caucuses turn out).
1) Bells - Special Double Cream Stout - 6.1% - Not a milk stout (no lactose) but my guess (and what I read on BA) is that how they blend this smooths it out. I'll buy that! Very tasty!
2) Bells - Best Brown Ale - 5.8% - Mnn is this a nice session beer. I am reasonably certain Bells is distributed in NJ. If they are, I know where to get it!
