Labor Day Weekend Beer Review!!!

Ok Comrades this review is going to get added on to all weekend so check back for updates. The firts thing I wanted to do was provide links to a couple of places in Milford, CT that are worth a visit, The New England Beverage Company and Loading Dock Wine & Spirits.

1) Indie Pale Ale from Cisco Brewers really good IPA. I like the beer from Cisco and will try to find more brands. The descriptions of the beer on the label are a bit pretentious but over all very good.

2) Hop River IPA from Farmington River Brewing Company - Too mild, not hoppy enough. IPA lite!

3) Z Lager - Fort Collins Brewery very different to the IPA's I've had. In German this is a Rauchbier (I guess). It is very smokey and very good. This would be great with a steak. It was recommended by the great folks at Mo's. They have never steered me wrong.

4) Rogue Chocolate Stout - I really do like these Chocate Stout's. Can't wait to get all the Winter varieties coming up.

5) Dogfish Head Punkin Ale - Pretty mild, not impressed. Like the Southern Tier variation better.

The most gutless team in the history of baseball

the 2008 New York Yankees

Ideal Democrat

This is great

Maysoon Abdelhady says she is the perfect Democratic National Convention delegate.
“I was recruited because I’m a woman. I’m a Palestinian. I’m a Muslim. I’m disabled and, because I’m 30 and still not married, people think I’m gay.

“I told all that to the head of the New Jersey delegation but she said, ‘Excellent — you fill every quota we have!’”

NRO Via the Newark Star Ledger

Can a Muslim be gay?

UPDATE: Hey Maysoon (if it is you) thanks for responding. As a white male (who pays a lot in taxes) I know I am not the Democrat's ideal. While I appreciate that it was a joke there is always an element of truth underlying the joke. As for a Muslim being gay, would a Muslim want to be gay in Saudi Arabia?

I love Powerline

For quotes like this:

As we've often said, the Democrats prey on ignorance (jimmy add...and the ignorant!). Often they know better and are being cynical; sometimes it's because they are ignorant themselves. A shocking example of the latter case was revealed yesterday when Nancy Pelosi appeared on Meet the Press. Mrs. Pelosi declared herself a major advocate of natural gas as an energy source, but then revealed that she is ignorant of the fact that natural gas is a fossil fuel.

Green Ego & Ham

Vodkapundit links to this and it is a classic!

O and Joe
Joe and O
I will not vote for O and Joe

I would not, could not in the Fall
For them I will not vote at all.

Barack H. O.
Has done few deeds
And yet now for our votes he pleads
His votes are few his bills are nil
In his short time on Capitol Hill

He says his choice will heal the planet
And shrink the oceans while he's at it
He'll make the world love us once more
For at his very name they roar

The House (In Progress) that George Built

A friend of mine got to tour the new Yankee Stadium this past weekend. Here is what he saw.

Can someone please tell me?

Why Jimmy Page playing a song he ripped off from Howlin Wolf should be a symbol for the London Olympics in 2012? Well at least the Olympics in 2012 will be in one of the world's dwindling number of NON- Police States.

From last night

Sunday Beer Review

No I haven't started yet. Returned home from the Bluefish game in a surprisingly coherent (?) mode. I have a ton of beer in the fridge and it took a herculean effort to not start early yesterday which would have disastrous. Did have one beer last night to sample:

1) Dogfish Head Aprihop - IPA brewed with Apricots. Thought this was a bit of a stretch and wasn't that impressed. However did note that their Pumpkin Ale was out and am looking forward to trying that next week.

2) Ommegang Chocolate Indulgence - I like Brooklyn Brewery's Chocolate Stout better. The fact that I had tried this before Adam boggles the mind!

3) Ithaca Beer Company - Excelsior - 9.9% - ABV Outstanding!

4) Signature Ale - A combined offering by Port Brewing Company & De 'Proef' Brouwerv (their spelling not mine) - 8.5% ABV. Not a Double or a Triple but a clear crisp Ale that is very good. I got this at a place I discovered in Milford and will provide information on them shortly.

Soundtigers!

Schedule released.

McCain Bitch Slaps Dumbo

"Oisk" Plays the National Anthem

At the Cyclones game last Sunday on his harmonica. Carl Erskine, "Oisk" as he was called by the Dodger faithful in the 50's was honored by having his number 17 retired by the Brooklyn Cyclones. Oisk pitched 2 no hitters in the bigs. He actually held the World Series strikeout record (14 Yankees 1953 World Series) until that was broken by Sandy Koufax in 1963. He was one of the legendary Boys of Summer. I didn't get all of it, and apologize for the hang-over shakes.

Obama

At least according to this is a megalomaniac. The rest of his party is just sick. Beware of political leaders or their sycophants who believe they have some sort of divine right to rule.

By the way could Pelosi's comments about Obama being a "leader that God has blessed us with at this time" be repeated in a public school?

America you were warned.

Rucker Park

Very interesting history.

But First

Weekend Beer Review

Went a little overboard today (day off)....bought a bunch of new (for me) beers and as the great one said, away we go! This post will probably be updated during the weekend.

Weyerbacher Insanity...11.1% ABV...By the title I had to try this. Similar to a barleywine and highly recommended.

Weyerbacher Simcoe IPA...Really enjoyed this IPA..may be heading to Easton, PA sometime soon!

Snake Dog IPA mild at 7.0 abv but nice!

Mojo IPA Boulder Beer Co. I am hoping this was meant to be unfiltered! A little too mild for me.

Maharaja Imperial IPA Avery Brewing now this is more like it 10.2 ABV. It seems like there are a lot of craft brewers in Colorado.

Southern Tier Imperial IPA Unearthly. 11.0 ABV. Surprised at the Alcohol content as this is again quite mild. Very good though.

N'ice Chouffe Brewed with spices, Thyme & Curacao Peel (sounds like a Simon & Garfunkel Song). Limited Edition Release 2006. 10.0% ABV. Didn't quite have that kick maybe it was too old but I did like it. Brewed by Brasserie D'Achouffe

This looks interesting

Dark Star Orchestra at the Klein in November. $36 to see any band is not bad.

This is a good sign (and expected)

Caught this from AOL. After Barry's wowing the international set there was no expected bounce in the polls so the MSM could pre-emptively declare the election all but over. Predictably from the same article this is the reason the annointed one isn't 50 points ahead:

“The real question is why is Obama then underperforming?” Iyengar added. “There is something about Obama that is causing something of drag.” Iyengar believes that something is Obama’s race.
Several pollsters agreed that race is a significant factor in this election, though they count others of roughly equal influence.
“This may sound kind of harsh, but if the Democratic nominee were a white male from a red or purple state, the theory would be dead on that this would be set up, there would be a very, very high probability for a Democratic landslide,” said Brad Coker, the managing partner of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research.

The foundation is being laid that if Barry is not elected we are all a bunch of evil white racists.

An interesting commentary is posted on NRO
that states that America can survive a President Obama, while burying the race relations question. Not sure if I agree with that but I have to think about it some more.
