Another top 100 Beer Review - Abner

Growler courtesy of a friend. I owe him big! Poured into some Hill Farmstead Stemware. This beer has a nice murky orange hue. There is a slight head to the pour and some minimal lacing. The smell is of sweet and bitter citrus. The taste starts off with some swwet hoppiness, think orange and pineapple and finishes up with some bitter lemon zest that lingers nicely. You want to repeat this all day! The carbonation is spot on and this beer is easily drinkable. Happy to have tried this!

Weekend Beer Review!

Start off a bit early -

1) Hardywood Park - Ginger Bread Stout - 9.2% - Milk stout brewed with local ginger, honey and some cinnamon added.  Might be one of the best beers I have ever had.  This is a liquid cookie.  If they sell growlers of this I am going to get one filled.  Matter of fact this is a fall beer....I am making the drive to Richmond next year and stocking up.  Freaking outstanding!

2) Brooklyn Brewery - Bam Boozle - Belgain Pale Ale at 8.67% - Not bad but am ruined from what I had above!

3) Thomas Hooker - Saison - Aged in Ct. Wine barrels - Pretty nice like to see the locals step up!

4) Sixpoint - 3 beans - Chocolate & Coffee stout - Thin body, tasty & a bit of an alcohol punch!

Beer Review Continues!

A little South Carolina action is going on.....

1) Coast Brewing - Dead Arm - American Pale Ale - 6.0% - Surprising that this is that high an ABV.  A littloe grassiness and a little Juniper.  Can drink this all day!

2) Coast Brewing - Hop Art - 7.7% - American IPA, kind of pushing to the DIPA range....the sweet malts noted yield well to the hoppiness!

3) Smuttynose - Hebaceous - American Amber 4.35% - Not bad but with Nugget Nectar out shortly maybe not a good idea to release this.  Bottle 243 of 1000.

4) Hoppin Frog - Sweet Evil - Belgian Styled Barley Wine 8.8% - Holy god the previous reviews were right!  This is so sweet!  Glad to have tried once and that is it!

Weekend Beer Review!

Oh boy off to a scary start and it won't get better!

1) Victory Brewing - Oak Horizontal - 10 or so % - Wow!

Because I don't know how to edit an Old Post

1) Captain Lawrence - Winter Ale about 6% or so.  Malt with a little (as in very) spice.  Not bad for a $10 64 oz. growler!

Might have found the way...I hate blogger!

2) Southport Brewing - Big Chill - 9% - Winter Warmer, had this on tap in BPT of all places very nice beer.  Some chocolate notes and easily drinkable!

3) New Glarus - Enigma - Fruit/Vegetable Beer - Around 5.5% or So - Cherry Ale - Light Lambic I guess - Pretty tasty - With the Cherry you get some slight spice and vanilla.  Glad to have tried.

4) New Glarus - Apple Ale - Even better than the above.  Better than cider, just a slight hint of clove!  Outstanding!

5) Black Diamond - Bourbon Barrel Aged Grand Cru - 9.0% - Says it is a Dubbel but to me a winter warmer because of the chocolate taste.  Not bad for (if I remember) a reasonably cheap price!

Weekend Beer Review Continues!

Guest reviewer the Gator

1) Russian River - Blind Pig - 6.25% - Classic American single hop IPA.  Nice color, clearly filtered, easy to drink.  Gator says medium body, freshness in the nose. It is exactly what it says it is....delicious!

National Championship Beer Review

Figure the Irish will get smoked...Oh well!

1) Narragansett - Private Stock Imperial IPA - 8,6% - Fairly Solid Double IPA especially given the price point, about 6 bucks or so.  Would buy again!

and I was right, although did not go very far out on a limb

2) The Bruery - Rueuze - 5.9% - Nice sour beer, very blonde almost see through.  Just a hint of sweetness to balance out.  Getting a few for the summer!

continuing on...

3) Karbach - Fra*Gee*Lay - 8.0% - A bourbon barrel version of their winter warmer - Yule Shoot your Eye out Kid.  This is a Ginger Bread Cookie with molasses!

Happy 2013 - Beer!

Freemont Brewing - Bourbon Abominable - 11% - Starting out right! Too smooth - Alcohol very well hidden, mild bourbon and cherry taste.  May get more as this can be ordered online!
