Weekend beer review!!!!!

Started late today.....

1) Brewery De Rank Belgian Golden Ale - 6.0% - it's ok, nothing to write home about. Probably shouldn't have had a Rochefort 10 to prime the pump!

Never got much further

Alfred is not in a good mood

and I don't blame him.

Weekend Beer Review!

Better late than never!

1) Southern Tier - Mokah - Stout brewed Chocolate & Coffee - 11% ABV - Had this on tap at the Spring Street lounge. This is basically chocolate milk for adults. The ideal breakfast would be this and Cocoa Puffs...I am sure that that would not be low glycemic.

2) Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout - 7.0% ABV - Another reason not to bemoan the passing of Guinness's 250th Anniversary Stout.

3) Lagunitas - Little Sumpin - 7.3% Wheat Beer - Very good - I finally understand adding citrus flavors to beer.

The country, to put it mildly, is not in good hands.

Powerline nails Nancy Pelosi. My addition to this is that if you look at her eyes she is a hold over from the Manson family, except not as bright.

24 Prediction! We'll see what happens

Against overwhelming odds (of course) Jack will free Tony to save Kim (she really is annoying isn’t she!) Kim of course won’t be freed. Tony survives till next year.

Jack will obviously be taken into custody immediately; Jack will finally trust someone and will confess to.....Renee why he freed Tony. Jack will be despondent about being on deaths door and not being able to save his daughter.

Off topic: Aaron Pierce will gain the tapes that implicate Olivia Taylor in murder. He will destroy them! They will be an item next year.

Jack will be held, almost on death row until Renee intervenes with President Taylor.

President Taylor says she will certainly pardon Jack posthumously, but there is nothing that can be done now as his source for stem cells, Kim is gone.

Someone, will suggest (Obi-Wan to Yoda…there is another!) Jack’s granddaughter Terri!

President Taylor in a heartfelt phone call with Jack convinces him he needs to get the stem cell treatment to save his daughter and the country from certain attack from the shadowy group.... Jack agrees!.

Last scene…Jack boarding Air Force 1…..cut to the baby in California….see you next January!

Weekend Beer Review!

Starting early, heading to Yankee Stadium tomorrow.....

1) Victory Brewing - Wild Devil - 6.7% This is an enhancement of their Hop Devil, with the addition of Brettanomyces yeast. Has that banana taste while hoppy very good! Check back often....going to have a Hair of the Dog - Adam to put me out of my misery!

2)Bluepoint Brewing - Hoptical Illusion - 6.8% - very drinkable IPA with a little more alcohol that I originally thought. Good local beer!

3) Thirsty Dog Brewing - Hoppus Maximus - 5.0% - This might be the perfect American Beer! Drinkable and very tasty!

4) Goose Island - IPA - Didn't plan on this being IPA Sunday - but just gotta go with the flow. Another very good and drinkable IPA. Still like the Thirsty Dog better!

4) Mendocino - Eye Of the Hawk Ale - 8% ABV - Very subtle belying the alcohol content. Extremely drinkable.

Stupid Democrat Tricks

Alfred in his usual abrasive, yet spot on, style opines on Nancy Pelosi's recent problems on waterboarding. To bring a little historical perspective to this the Dem's are going to behead themselves. They are going to get their kangaroo court, figure they have things all set, televise their hearings.....and the results will be.....the Iran Contra hearings. If anyone remembers those idiots like Joe Biden & Pat Leahy were skewered by Ollie North. Would love to see former Vice President Cheney have a battle of wits with those that are unarmed.

Sign that the Beer Apocalypse is upon us!

I've started aging.....actually I continue aging but I have bought some beer for cellaring purposes. So far have a Brooklyn Black Op's, a couple of 09 Bigfoots, an 08 Goose Island Bourbon County Stout and a Hair of the Dog - Adam. The goal is to keep these to the Holidays, which very easily could turn be Memorial Day.

As an aside I am pissed of at myself for missing the Swanny lighted beerfest this weekend. Had tickets to the Yankees which is a tactical error in and of itself. How to deal with a tactical error? Compound it! Will most certainly leave the Yankees early to go to d.b.a and other fun areas!

Weekend Beer Review!

OK it's official after months of deliberation and millions of liver cells killed, d.b.a is my favorite bar in Manhattan with the Tiger being a close second. Probably the two things that tipped in d.b.a's favor is their scotch selection as well as the East Village is my favorite area of the city. Have actually become fascinated with Zum Schneider which is near by. A good and boisterous Bavarian Bierhaus.

1) Young's Old Nick - Barley Wine - This was from 2007. This is from 2007 and has aged very well. Smooth, kind of like a dark rum for want of a better comparison.

2) Goose Island - Oatmeal Stout - 5.1% ABV - A British Style stout. For those clamoring over Guinness's 250th anniversary stout get some of this. Won't have to wait another 250 years!

3) Otter Creek - Russian Imperial Stout - 10.5% ABV This is a great stout. Shock though that something called Russian Imperial would come out of the peoples Republic of Vermont.

Swine Flu

OK the idiot boomers have outdone themselves on this one. At work, outside the entrance to the bathrooms are signs recommending that you wash your hands. Next there will be signs in the crapper telling you to wipe your *ss!

Weekend Beer Review continued

MC's comments about absinthe (and I paraphrase) all things in moderation including moderation are scary indeed! That could be a sick trip to the city. Might need Swanny to chaperone! Anyway

2) Continuing from Friday - Abbaye de Saint Bon - Chien Grand Cru - Too fruity once again. 11.5% abv. This will hurt tomorrow but I think a good one is coming up!

3) And since I stacked the deck - Malheur 12 Dark Ale - 12% ABV Dark Ale - Bottle Conditioned - I may commit heresey here, but this would give Rochefort 10 a run for its money. Great beer.

4) St. Benardus Pater 6 -I bought this as a 4 pack with a couple of other offerings as I wanted to get the chalice that was included. Happy to drink this.

Beerus Interuptus!

Woke up yesterday and decided I wanted to go roam around the East Village. Kind of a sperm of the moment thing as Archie Bunker might say. Roaming was of course a natural thing to want to do when the weather forecast called for rain all day but the weather turned out very good. Of course with all that wandering a thirst was going to develop. A couple of places of note were visited. A Paddy something or other on 2nd around 27 or 28th. It bills itself as the worlds only all Guinness draft bar. Don't know if they are the worlds only but all they did have on draft was Guinness. Had the 250 Anniversary offering on tap which was very good, although I still maintain that Americans make better stouts.

The Waterfront Alehouse was a place that I had wanted to go for a while. Unfortunately it is not in my logical walking pattern during the week so a special trip needed to be made. Good place although I wish the bartender spent more time paying attention to the glasses of his patrons rather than washing the one's behind the bar. Had a paradoxically named Imperial Mild on Cask from the Chelsea brewing company. This was 11.5% and superb! Probably can't make that one a habit.

I noticed on the board behind the bar that the Waterfront offers absinthe cocktails. The absinthe is purportedly real but just looked way to strong for me. I texted MC that absinthe was available. We traded some messages the last from MC saying we should try the stuff. Not sure if that is one of his better ideas. Actually I am reasonably confident that it isn't!

Well hopefully I will get to the regular beer review soon.

Weekend Beer Review!!!!!!

Or what is Obama qualified to be? CEO of GM, CEO of Chrysler, President, or do you want fries with that!

1) Avery Brewing - Brabant Barrel Aged Wild Ale - 8.65% Everyone was raving about this on Beer Advocate. Too Fruity for me and I don't mean Barney Frank. Don't go out of your way for this. This is enough to drive me back to Schaefer.
