All beer, all week, not sure though if any of these brews have anything to do with NYC.
1) Three Floyds - Zombie Dust - 6.2% - American Pale Ale - Gotta like that Citra Hop. This has a dominant sweet orange nose and outstanding taste. The Floyds just basically sold out of this, this is meant to be savored (quickly) so the hop profile doesn't loose steam.
2) Mad River Brewing Company - Serious Madness - American Black Ale - 8.2% - Nice Jet Black, would have expected a little more hops if this was an American Black Ale but it is a very nice porter!
Headed up to the Cigar City Event at DeCicco's Brewster today. CC had brewed an IPA in honor of NYC Craft Beer week called the Big Apple IPA - It was basically Jai Alai with same apple pie type spices. Jai Alai is a very good IPA. I went for this version:
3) Cigar City - Jai Alai - IPA Peach - 7.5% - I have had a peach infused IPA on another occasion and wanted to try another one. I figured the peach and the citrus would be nicely complimentary which they are. Great beer....DeCicco's Brewster has weekly brewers events....uh oh!
4) Maine Beer Company - Lunch IPA - 7,0% American IPA - This has been all the rage on beer advocate so when I saw DeCicco's had some I took a little lunch time (pun intended trip). Nice beer but not worth the hype. A little too bitter. Make mine a Ghandi Bot (yes I know not an amercan IPA)
Need a couple of markers till 900 which should occur tomorrow. Thank god for the Saranac fall pack.
5) Saranac - Black Forest - 5.5% Schwarzbier - Bavarian Black Beer - the BA guys like it. Not really my style but can easily put away a few!
6) Saranac- Caramel Porter - 5.4% - Kind of like a Southern Tier Creme Brulee light. This is sweet, kind of liake a cream soda. Would be better if it was 98% and humid with this one!
7) Saranac - Octoberfest - 5.4% Very nice drinkable beer and thats about it. This gets me to 899 and 900 tomorrow. Friday does not look well!

Weekend Beer Review
Starting early.....little road trip tomorrow!
1) Abita 8% - Doesn't really have that spiciness that one would associate it a bock but this is very good. Alchohol masked very nicely!
2) The Lost Abbey - Inferno Ale - 8.5% - Strong Belgian Ale - Wow outstanding!
Went to Oaktree Wine and Spirits in South Plainfield New Jersey. Outstanding store and Outstanding Service. They will have fueled the weekend beer review for at least several more weeks!
3) Sebago Brewing - Milestone Ale - Amercian Strong Ale - 9.2% - Wow different this is like a hoppy scotch ale. This is a different brew and is obviously the one to have whilst beginning a little beer walk in 100 degree heat!
4) Allagash Tripel - 9.0% - The Gator was right...this is a great bear. Think I've had the Tripel Reserve (not yet reviewed)....oh Well!
5) Alesmith Grand Cru - 10.0% - Best beer of the day hands down. I can't get over what I think is the distinct grape flavor here.
6) Pretty Things - American Darling - Good Time Lager 7.0% - Was going to say I found the perfect session beer but I may need to rethink that based on the ABV. Crisp, clean refreshing. A pleasure to drink!
7) The Lost Abbey - Devotion Ale - 6.25% - Belgian Pale Ale - Very nice Lost Abbey offering...great pre noon beer. Time to go cook out! (Well might sneak in another!)
This was beer number 460 on my list. I need to do some serious travelling to get to 500!
8) Fouders Brewing - Devil Dancer - Triple IPA 12.0% Wow I need a nap! This like a Dogfish 105! I may banish one of these to the cellar to calm down!
9) Terrapin Hopsecutioner - IPA - I think I've gone past Adam depth. Great beer. Hops rule!
10) Harpoon IPA - Just trying to add to the total but a nice beer none the less!

Weekend Beer Review!
Going to continue with the sessions and then hopefully build up to a couple of big boys pre Derby!
1) Victory Headwaters Pale Ale - 5.1% - East Coast version of SN PA. Grassy hops and easily drinkable. Certainly one of those beers that you can transition someone to craft! Beer 741...getting close to Hank!
2) Harpoon Oyster Stout - 5.1% - Tasty but not sure what the Oysters do!
3) Dogfish Head - Hellhound on My Ale - 10% - This is very good not sure if you can get in CT yet. Kind of like a high test summer shandy! This was released by Dogfish to commemorate the 100th birthday of Robert Johnson. Well done. The bottle artwork is fantastic. This is a keeper!
4) Sierra Nevada - Beer Camp 37 - Weizenbock - 6.8% - Nice take on the style. I have had Aventinus and this is a much lighter version. I like the beer camp concept that SN has done. Hope they continue with it.
5) Sierra Nevada - Beer Camp 16 - Juniper Black Ale - 8% - Interesting type of beer. Chocolate Malt with some gin type flavor (I guess from the Juniper). I thought it was a black IPA but apparently it is a Winter Warmer. Nice beer!
6) Sierra Nevada - Beer Camp # 8 - California Common - 6.5% - Never heard of the style called California Common. Guess it had to do with the brewing method. Could also be called a steam beer but that is trademarked by Anchor. Who knew!
7) City Steam - Naughty Nurse - Nice to review something in state (but do have to admit that English Bitter is not my favorite style). Anyway need to go for a growler soon.

May Day Beer Review!
First off raise a toast to the late great Billy Morissey, you'll be missed.
Went on a bit of a beer excursion to Bellport Cold Beer & Soda out on the Island. The owner Dave is a great guy who helped me out finding a rarity (which will be reviewed later on this month as part of a liver busting beer review!). I did spend a couple of dollars at his store. He threw in nice t-shirt and a 2006 Celebration Ale (that should be interesting). His blog is well worth a bookmark. He is a beer geek and enjoys spending time with his customers.

1) Greenport Harbor Brewing Company - Disorient IPA - Good solid American IPA. What this is is Long Islands Sea Hag. Glad to try something local and not readily available. This was via a growler. I love Growlers!
2) Nebraska Brewing Co - 10.0% - Wow = Their traditional Belgian IPA aged in Chardonnay barrels - Tasty but hard to finish given the ABV. You can only have one!
3) Braurei Schoenram Schoenram Gold - 6.0 % A nice light lager that I picked up during one of my many trips to Whole Foods Bowery. They were doing a tasting and I said hey why not pick up a bottle.
4) G. Schneider & Sohn - Aventinus - 8.2% - Dopplebock - This is an outstanding beer the fruit and spice tastes works very well. I'm going to have to see when this is on tap at Zum's. I think there was an earlier beer post of mine that mentioned that the German's brewed strong beer during lent to help them through the season. Rascally krauts, always trying to get you to join the party (probably only Adam will get the TV show reference)
5) Arcadia Ales - Hop Rocket - 9.0% Wow this says it is 9.0% on BA did not seems it as I was drinking a couple on Metro North. This might be one of the better double IPA's you can get in the North East. Having a couple of these would be easy but not wise.
6) Mikkeller Warrior Single Hop - 6.90% I like this better than the Simcoe. I think I've cleared all the Single Hop varities now!
7) Pretty Things - Fluffy White Rabbits - 8.50% - Where's Grace Slick? I'll tell you I like beers that go for the knockout blow fast. This is subtle. I really like the Peach flavor!

Weekend Beer Review continues
Had to put down one of my mother's cat's today, Ethel this beer is for you. On a happier note we will be coming in to a countdown to 600. Probaly right before Christmas will the momentous even occur. Have some real specialties for this!
1)The Duck Rabbit - Barleywine Ale - 11% - From North Carolina - One hell of a beer. Get the pear and molasses taste. Alcohol is well hidden but you certainly can't chug these. Part of the Philly (Capone's) haul that has turned out to be outstanding! This brewery has a great logo. I will be ordering a t-shirt and pint glass shortly.
2) Full Sail - Session Lager 5.1% - Crisp Clear & refreshing. This is the type of beer that you would want to give to a non-craft drinker. This is a go to beer, easily.
3) Bells Brewing - Expedition Stout - 10.5% - The Boys at BA say not worthy. Everyone else likes it. A beer Feud? I will say this.....potent!
4) Dogfish Head - My Antonia - Imperoal Pilsner - 7.5% - Nice lemon grass taste. Highly carbonated, nice hoppy finish. Nice drinkability despite the ABV.
5) Weyerbacher - November -7.7% - Coffe Infused brown ale. Brewery only release that I was able to get fro Capones. Mice beer, a little thin to support the coffee/chocolate flavor.
6) Full Sail - Black Session Lager - 5.4% - Just a little more malty than its cousin above. Again, a go to beer.
7) Iron Hill - Tripel - Good night!

Weekend Beer Review!
I now have enough beer on hand to make it to 700. This is going to be a daunting task.
1) Kelso of Brooklyn - Kelso IPA - 6% Kelso beers have been my first beer of choice on my Friday after work NYC pub crawls. Thanks to DeCicco's for the growler. This is a nice light American IPA. Eminently drinkable! Kelso is a husband and wife team that brew out of the Greenpoint Brewery in Brooklyn. Have met the husband Kelly a couple of times. Great guy!
2) Keegan Ales - Super Kitty 12% - Oh boy... Big Beer Saturday - I think this has aged for a while as it is so mellow. The booze can creep up though. They call it an American Strong ale, but I think it is more of a quad!
3) Boulder Beer Co - Killer Penguin - 10.0% The boys at beer advocate gave this a D- I think that is a bit harsh. Kind of tasty but a bit overpowering. And this was a 2007 vintage!
4) Voodoo Brewery - Big Black Voodoo Daddy - 12% - Big time stout! Jet black aged in tanks with oak staves (?). Very tasty! This will last for a while!
5) Dogfish Head - Namaste - 5.0% - Witbier - Very tasty, enhanced with coriander, orange and lemongrass. Great Summer beer, that said, it is March and what is up with Starving Marvin on the label?
6) Troegs - Scratch Belgian Brown - The esoteric stuff is coming fast and furious. This might be one of the better ones!

Weekend Beer Review!
Just got back from the second to last game ever at Yankee Stadium. It was my last game there. Great game which I will get into in some subsequent posts, but I want to gather my thoughts on the closing of Yankee Stadium. I also have a special posting for Matt which will come on Friday. That said, I'm thirsty!
1) La Goudale - This is a French Blonde Ale. After fully expecting the beer to surrender I really have to say I enjoyed it. Crisp and flavorful. 7.8% ABV doesn't hurt either.
2) Samaels Oak Aged Ale - Avery Brewing Co. - 14.9% ABV. Ok I am assuming that this is supposed to be unfiltered! This ain't low carb by any stretch but is very tasty. The label says it was bottled 4/07. I have never seen this before and wonder if it is released as it ages. Perhaps Adam can opine. By the way, Adam is going to have to do me a favor and forward a picture I took to Alfred.
3) Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse - Liked the French beer above, this is awful. Imports generally suck. Kinda like the import we have from Illinois running for President. I better watch it, the thought police might come after me.
4) Fort Collins Brewery - DoppelBock - Thank God (or Obama) to get back to an American beer! This is apparently released every fall. This is a great steak and potato's beer. There appears to be a lot of craft brewing going on in Colrado. Did Ireland secretly move there!
5) Imperial Extra Pale Ale - Southern Tier Brewing CoVery good beer despite too many instructions on how to drink the beer on the label!
6) Old Dubh - Harviestoun Brewers Ale Matured in Whiskey Casks. Import from Scotland, very good 8% ABV. They have the head brewer listed on the label as well as someone with the title "Master of Wood". Can't make this stuff up.

Weekend Beer Review!
So Paul McCartney goes to the White House and basically serves up a gratuitous slam on George W. Perhaps Sir Paul can elaborate why things are so much better with the Once in the White House? Could it be the record breaking debt? Could it be no improvement in unemployment? Could it be the way the Christmas Day attempted bombing and Time Square attempted bombing were handled? Or could it be the Once's golf game? That said....
1) Captain Lawrence - Captains Kolsch - 5.5% - Poured from a Captain Lawrence Growler into a Captain Lawrence Pint Glass! It's about 90 and humid today and I think I found the perfect beer for the weather. Pour a nice medium golden color, not much in the way of a head. The beer is nicely sweet with basically no notable hops present. Very easy to drink.
I actually bought a growler koozie from them....betcha Adam doesn't have one of those! Who'd have thought I'd be making beer geek challenges to Adam?
2) Weihenstephaner - Hefe Weissbier - 5.4% ABV - You gotta like purity laws, right Helen Thomas! Anyway don't want to ruin a great beer when dealing with Trolls. This taste is unique to me. I'm guessing it is the yeast and when I read the reviews on BA the description is it tastes of cloves. Never tasted a clove before but this is very good!

Pours with a nice foamy head very black.Love the balance between the coffe and chocolate. I guess this really must be for breakfast!
The hint of the hops at the end really completes this.
I am more of an American Craft guy but this was/is a very enjoyable import. Will buy again!

Definitely banana yeast is this a Belgian Pale Ale? Get that banana yeast taste, honey then kicks and and it finishes up with some spiciness. Mouthfeel is sharp & crisp, really jumps at you. Can't believe that this is 8.0%. Very easy growler to drink. Thanks to Brooklyn Brewery (and DeCicco's for a nice treat). This was a style (Braggot) that I was not familiar with and I will be sure to search out other offerings in this style.

Christmas Week Beer Review!
So I am going to start off with a Hannukah beer!
1) Schmaltz - Genesis Ale - ok...drop off noted and extended!
Wow have to leave the one above for posterity!
2) New England Brewing - Fancy Pants - Flanders Oud Bruin - 6.0% (50th review from Beer Advocate) Like everyone else picked this up at the brewery over the last week....did sneak in a couple of samples though along the way! Poured into a brandy snifter. Appearance) Light amber, a swirl gives no lacing at all. 3) Troegs - Scratch Beer 52 2011 T2 Ale - 6.9% Jesus sounds like this was concocted at area 51 or whatever it is called. Actually it is just Troegs trying out their new brewing facility. As I will always do my part for beer science I am partaking. Tasty Amber beer...the real test is to whether they can handle Nugget Nectar in the new facility!
4) Shipyard - Applehead - 4.5% and American Pale Ale flavored with Apple and Cinnamon...leave this to Jolly Rancher!
5) Harpoon - Vermont Spruce Tip - 7.0% A herbed beer ---I'll take them at their word that there is spruce in this. This is very tasty and an excellent value!
6) Shmaltz - Messiah Bold - Brown Ale - Not a big brown ale fan but not bad.

2) New England Brewing - Fancy Pants - Flanders Oud Bruin - 6.0% (50th review from Beer Advocate) Like everyone else picked this up at the brewery over the last week....did sneak in a couple of samples though along the way! Poured into a brandy snifter. Appearance) Light amber, a swirl gives no lacing at all. Weekend Beer Review!
Quick hook for Nova....time to work my magic once again!
1) Lagunitas - Bavarian Styled Doppel Weizen - 9.0% - Big time banana and spicy taste. Easily drinkable. Lagunitas is under appreciated they brew great beer at a reasonable price. Well done!
2) Southport Brewing C0 - Sasco Hill Pale Ale - ? ABV - Wanted to get a growler today but really didn't want to travel to far (That's for tomorrow) so I went here. This is a nice beer extremely drinkable....lightly hoppy and bitter. Joined their VIP club and the guy charged my $17 for two pints and a 64oz growler....not a bad deal!
3) The Bruery Snicklefritz - Complex Triple
Well that was a great review....went down to DeCicco's today and picked up a bottle of the number 3 beer in the world (per Beer Advocate) Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout. Biggest in person rare haul ever!
4) Ayinger - Oktoberfest Marzen - 5.8% - Pretty damn tasty. I am not a big October Fest fan but I like this one. Think I am going to limit my October Fest purchases to German Brewers.
5) The Peekskill Brewery - Hop Common - 5.0% - Right at the Hudson River...beautiful day to be down there...This tastes a bit stronger than the published ABV. Tasty beer need to get there more
often.
6) Abita - Vanilla Double Dog - ABV 7.0% - You got to like a stout with vanilla...great desert beer. Done for the day

Weekend beer review!
There is nothing good that can happen by attending NY Brewfest 2010. That's why I'm going.
Went to DeCicco's for a growler and came away with 2. I think I am going to adopt this growler strategery going to buy several of the 32 oz. varieties so I can pick up a couple at once. Two 64's may be a bit much!
1) Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary - Fritz & Ken's Ale - American Imperial Stout - 9.2%. Spoke to the Gator who wasn't that thrilled with it. I actually do like it (and I won't use the Saul Alinsky/Obama like nastiness against the Gator!). It is a bit bitter but I think that I got this from a growler fill and the beer had warmed up a bit might have helped tone it down. Anyway a couple of bottles will be going into the cellar as Gator was right when he said it should age for a bit.
2) Bear Republic - Five Zero - 7.7% Light citrus taste... a bit watery..but almost 8%?
3) Defiant Brewing - Belgian Style Triple Ale 9.0% - Very good beer. Very fruity taste. Crip & clear. Could drink a few of these which might not be bright given the ABV. This isn't that far away in NY. A roadtrip may seriously be in order. This is the first in my haul from Bellport!
4) The Lost Abbey - 10 Commandments - 10.0% Belgian Strong Ale - Brewed with raisins, honey & rosemary. Really get the rosemary taste to offset the raisin and honey taste. Very good beer - got this at Table and Vine. Too little time and too many beer road trips to go on.
5) Port Brewing - Hop 15 Ale - 10.0% Great DIPA the sweetness and bitterness combined is great. Probably the closest thing to Pliney you can get on the East Coast. Another Table & Vine got!
6) Port Brewing - Old Viscosity - 10.0% - American Strong ale - Wow. This is like drinking a beer martini, but the funny thing is I get these soft milk stout tones. But it works! Getting close to the 400th beer. Should be done by next week.

Rapture Beer Review!
I don't think buying beers on Ebay is a path I want to be going down, but the horse has left the barn!
1) Widmer Brothers - Nelson Imperial IPA 8.6% - Ha Ha! Just the famous Nelson quote from the Simpson's. This is a very solid DIPA. Access to this brewery is a bit spotty in CT. I need to get some more of their brews as this is quite tasty!
News note - Apparently we live in the golden age of beer. Nice.
2) Cavalry Brewing - Marauder IPA - Abv unknown. Kind of a weird beer. A little malty no real hops presence. I saw a review that called it an unsweetened Ice Tea and I thought that was accurate.
3) Boulder Beer Company Hoopla Pale Ale - 5.7% Brewed for a Music Festival in Colorado, release dated May to September 2011 so I was very surprised to find this in New Haven, Connecticut. This pours a nice amber color, two finger head. Hops are slight and bitter, mostly malty taste. Nice beer to kick off a Sunday....could see myself going back to this over the summer. First beer I have added to Beer Advocate!

Weekend Beer Review!
F**k your peas Mr. President, I'm drinking beer!
1) 3 Floyds - Rabbid Rabbit - 9.0% - One of the better Saisons I've had. A little muted to the taste, but still fulfills!
2) Jonas Broncks Beer Co - Woodlawn Weiss - About 5% or so. Named after the most northern part of the Bronx. This is a nice very drinkable Weiss which I think is contract brewed in Connecticut. Company does have a great logo....looking forward to more!
3) New England Brewing - Alpha Weizen - This may be a Weiss dominated beer review! Pours a nice cloudy yellow with a very puffy head, nice lacing. Smell - A bit lemony, certainly not very strong. Taste- You can get a bit of the cloves, but this beer is very nicely slightly hoppy. Wasn't expecting that but the brewer said they were going for something different. It is different and that is a good thing! Glad I had a chance to try this. Very nice summer brew.
4)Two Brothers - Askew - 6.5% as sour as the come. This easily compares with the Russian river sours. I like!
5) Weyerbacher 16 - Braggot - 10.5% - Interesting spicey flavor. Certainly get the honey no hops to speak of. More of a winter beer!
6) De Struise - Outblack - 10% - Weird beer, chocolate and spearmint? Not sure what they are going to. Still might buy again and put a bottle away.
7) Berkshire Brewing Co. Saint of Circumstance IPA - 5.7% Very tasty English IPA. These guys really should put some freshness dates on their bottles (not that this isn't fresH

Weekend Beer Review
Starting early today. I have no hopes of a walk today so what the hell! Picked up some interesting treats this week including one that I am learning about from my beer Yoda - Adam! That said I am starting off relative easily and am going to ramp up this bad boy like a Toyota accelerator!
1) Strangford Lough - St. Patrick's Best Ale - 4.2% - Not sure to put this as a domestic or import as this is brewed in Rochester (DRINK) from Irish ingredients. Hell it's my blog & my liver so I am calling it an import. Very nice English bitter. I get wary about things with the St. Patrick's label (or other Irish things) but this is good. I got a friend request on Facebook from the US rep for this beer and accepted it. That's why I bought this and I'm glad I did.
Time to hit the gas pedal!
2) Stone Brewing - Old Guardian Barley Wine Style Ale 11.1% - Saw this at Mo's last weekend. I know I have had this but it wasn't on my reviewed list so hey fair game. Was over at the beer room at Whole Foods on the Bowery and picked up a 2009 vintage. The one at Mo's was 2010 so thanks to Whole Foods for aging one for me. Thick pour rich copper color...Very mild given the ABV. Think I am going to get a 2010 one to go with the 2009 for a vertical in about a year or two! Or....when their new Russian Imperial Stout comes out I can make one hell of a black & tan!
3) North Coast Brewing - Brother Thelonius - Belgian style Abbey Ale - I hate it when brewery's make me spell big names like this....but this is a great brew. I had two mildly disappointing dubbels last week. This fills in nicely!
4) Mikkeller - Amarillo Single Hop IPA - 6.9% - This reminds me of a good west coast IPA in that the hops have that noice citrus flavor. Very nice beer. They have other single hop versions that I am going to give a try. By the way e-mailed the brewer and got a response back. I think I have a problem!
5) Stoudts - Fat Dog - Imperial Oatmeal Stout -9.0% - Not sure why I haven't tried this brewer before as it is reasonably plentiful in CT. Went to an event at the Tiger last Wednesday where their beers were featured and had their barleywine. This is a very sweet stout. Almost a milk stout except for the ABV. This is a very good beer and I look forward to trying some more of their offerings!
6) Hoppin Frog - Barrel Aged Boris the Crusher - 9.4% - I've had the regular version now the barrel aged version! Very good beer. I like the extra bite from the Bourbon barrels. Hopefully Hop Dam comes east soon.
7) Geary's - Imperial IPA - 8.2% - Too malty. Not that good

Post Superbowl Beer Review!
Ugly day today...up to late watching the game....drank too much during post game...remedy....beer review!
1) Brooklyn Brewery - Mary's Maple Porter - 7.2% - Nice porter a light body with just a slight hint of maple. Easy drinking.
2) Alpine Beer Co - Pure Hoppiness - 8.0% - Extra in a trade...Appearance) Nice golden hue slight foamy head. Taste) Wow this is a hop bomb! Nice flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, orange, lemon...this is a treat. This beer is absolutely fantastic. Good fortune to have had!
3) Alpine Beer Co - Exponential Hoppiness - 11.0% Appearance) Nice kind of murky orange, slight translucent head. Taste) You get the pineapple and grapefruit I am getting a load of lemon zest but the malt quickly compensates to balance this out. There is some oak and vanilla as well. This is very interesting! The flavors of this beer run the gamut. Mouthefeel) Nicely carbonated and nicely sticky! Alcohol is not noticeable. Overall) I really like this....have had some of these amped up IPA's that have needed some ageing. This is best fresh!
4) Live Oak - Hefeweizen - 5.2% Growler as part of a trade. I fell in love with this style last summer, the combination of the clove, banana and bubble gum is pedominant as it should be. There is a nice bitterness at the end which quickly goes away. Third top 100 beer reviewed this week.

Weekend Beer Review!
Have decided to do this over two days. Doing it all on Sunday makes Monday kind of tough. Although I have to say that starting this early on a Saturday afternoon does not have a huge track record of success. Oh well.
1) Guinness - 250 Anniversary Stout - Was never much of a fan of Guinness pre or post beer enlightenment but I like this one. A little more carbonated and (at least I think) hoppier. Good beer but Americans make better stout. Can I say that in the age of Obama?
2) Stone - Levitation Ale - Good session beer. On the bottle it says this was a gold medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival. (Can we use Great and American together in the age of Obama and his ilk?) Similar to a Sierra Nevada ESB.
3) Sticking with the boys at Stone - Imperial Russian Stout - (I know I can say Imperial & Russian in the same sentence in the age of Obama!) - 10.5% ABV - Big Beer. This is a stout....nuff said!
Off topic rant. Cablevision just sent me a letter saying they were going to remove several of my channels unless I got one of their Cable Boxes. Among the channels were BET & MSNBC. Not a good marketing ploy.

Why not early beer review!
1) Sebago Brewing - Elegans Saison - Single Batch series 6.1% - Different take on the style. Brewed with something called pineapple sage (???wtf). A reviewer on BA felt that this would be better released for the summer...I agree.
2) Dogfish Head - Tweason'ale - 6.0% - A gluten free beer! Fairly tasty almost kind of a wine cooler. Nice hint of strawberries and honey. Another summer beer.
3) Cantillon Kriek 100% Lambic - Pours a nice pink cranberry color, head quickly dissipates. Smell is cherries and some sour yeast. Got some serious action going on in the taste...cheeries and the tartness abounds. The mouthfeel is highly carbonated and a total pucker fest. Great beer
4) Saranac - Chocoalte Orange - Robust Porter -9.0% Good beer just don't get the orange taste. Chocolate is there though!
5) Peak Organic - Oak Aged Mocha - 8.4% - Pretty decent beer get the coffee a bit of chocolate and some vanilla from the oak. At 6.99 a bomber, not bad at all!
6)Sam Adams - Longshot 5 Crown Imperial Stout - 8.9% - This 6 pack represents 3 winners of a homebrew contest. This is a pretty decent stout a little hop forward, mix in a bit of chocolate and cofee. Damn fine effort by a home brewer!

Memorial Day Beer review!
This post will last all weekend. I have a special review lined up for Monday. It will be tasted in honor of those who have sacrificed.
1) Long Trail - Brewmaster Series Double IPA 8.6% - This is a very good beer. It is kind of a DIPA light to me, (leaving the ABV out of the equation). I think I paid about $6 for this bomber...worth every penny!
2) Sebago Brewing - Lake Trout Stout - Man what a roasty, malty flavor. Can drink this all night.
3) New England Brewing - 668 the Neighbor of the Beast - 9% - Belgian Strong Ale Picked up a growler at the brewery today. First time I ever got a growler fill directly from the tank rather than a keg so I think this is probably fresh!
Very tasty beer...always enjoy the banana flavored funky yeast. I also like the spicyness.
Dangerously drinkable...could go through the growler easily in one sitting.
The guys at NEB are great....It's nice to get a growler filled close by.
The guys were telling me about their upcoming planned release, Tequila Barrel Aged Ghandi Bot. They are having trouble getting a suitable barrel. Someone had sent them one but it had been varnished!
4) Goose Island - Night Stalker 11.7% - Wow this is an absolutely massive beer. The hops balance v. the malt is nice but the alcohol is really overpowering. Have a couple of bottles that will sit and mellow for a while!
This is not a one beer a night undertaking. Hopefully GI releases this on a year to year basis, Will check back on the ones I recently bought at Christmas!
5) Founders Brewing Red's Rye PA - 6.6% ABV - Latest haul from Table & Vine Very nice beer amber color very tart grapefruit taste. This is very unique!
6) Left Hand Brewing - 400 Pound Monkey - Englis IPA - 6.7%. Not a huge fan of this one. Too bitter for me.
7) River Horse - Summer Blonde - 4.5% - This to me is almost like a lightly alcoholic lemonade. Not too happy with the last 2 beers sampled. This is hard for me to write as I really do like River Horse beers.

Snowstorm Beer Review
I was able to do two important things before the snow storm started today, went to Ancona's and got a 4 mile walk in. I am descending into the beer cave for the rest of the day.
1)Clipper City Brewing 10% ABV This is my first beer from these folks. I went to the Wine Thief in New Haven as the place had gotten some good reviews on Beer Advocate. The selection is small but most importantly they had something that I hadn't had before. I really like this beer, very malty and very smooth. I'm going to have to look for more from this brewery.
2) North Coast Brewing - Old Stock Ale 2007 11.7% ABV. As for the link I know it goes to the 2008 offering but this beer has aged VERY well. Wish I could say the same about me!
3)North Coast Brewing - Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout A fitting tribute to the Mad Monk ABV 9%.
4) Flying Dog - Gonzo Imperial Stout - 9.2% ABV had this on tap with the Gator at the Ginger Man last week. Starts malty and finishes hoppy! Who knew!
5) Harpoon Leviathan
9.5% ABV - Smokey and good, really enjoyed this one.
6) Great Divide Titan IPA 6.8% ABV VERY Hoppy and Aromatic. Very Good.
7) Blue Point Brewing Company - Light mild spicy winter offering. More taste please!
8) Avery White Rascal Or as Al might say White Devil! Another one that I was not impressed with.
9) St. Bernardus Tripel 8.0% ABV, Ahhhh Belgium, just a little too carbonated though.
10) Great Divide - Old Ruffian Barley Wine - 10.2% ABV Malty & Hoppy. Very different than the Clipper City Offering. I may have to do more research on what I like better!

Weekend Beer Review
Figured I'd start early as I was pretty pathetic last week. By the way am seriously considering going to this eventwhich would be concurrent to NY Craft Beer Week. Nothing good can come of this.
1) Two Brothers - Hop Juice 9.9% - I love double IPA's and this is very good. More of an east coast IPA as the hops are more bitter than citrus. May follow up with another but then...maybe not.
Follwed up with...
2) Coronado Brewing - Idiot IPA 8.0% Nice too much sediment in the glass for me! Gotta like the name though!
3) Rogue - Captain Sigs Northwestern Ale - American Amber/Red - 6.2% - I think this has something to do with that TV series deadliest catch. Anyway nice and malty up fron with a bit of a (too) bitter finish. Glad I tried this though. This is beer 493.
4) Brasserie de Rochefort - Rochefort 8 - 9.2% - Belgain Stong Ale - I haven't had an authentic belgian in a while and it is time tou get back to basics. Outstanding sweetness with spice. World class (like I'm breaking news here).

5) Southampton - Grand Cru - 9.8% - Was going to toast MC's birthday today with this on facebook but he won't let you write on his wall. That's ok I will do it here. Very good american belgain offering. I has almost a champagne texture...grape taste does dominate. Almost like a wine. Beer 495.
6) River Horse - Hop Hazard - 6.5% - American Pale Ale...ain't nothin pale here. Sierra Nevada pale ale on steroids! Very tasty!
7) Terrapin - Rye Pale Ale - 5.3% another very solid beer. Beer 497.....may begin the countdown!
