This why I hate Baby Boomers
Piper at the Gates of Dawn
Apparently someone thought it would be a good idea to re-release this dreck. Please.
Best Christmas Card Ever!
The Trick & Pat. I know the photo is kind of crappy, but I wanted to put it on anyway. I have been fascinated with this man's presidency since college, when a professor in an American History class that I took had us read All the Presidents Men. I was fascinated with the Watergate era immediately. Anyway, Merry Christmas to the Nixon's!
New York Giants
Alright time to settle some issues. The Giants won today. This team is enough to drive you to drink. It's not a long drive either. (The AOL Country Station that I am listening to is playing a song called Tequila makes her clothes fall off. A fine sentiment.) Anyway, Eli Manning is the single DUMBEST football player I have ever seen. (Taylor Swift is on now). Eli, two interceptions, 5 fumbles 2 lost). What in God's name (Can I say God?) did Ernie Acorsi ever see in this guy. Thanks Ernie. Coughlin keeps his job today.
Need to get another Merlot!

Beer Tasting Drunk Blogging
Following up on my previous post and ripping off a term by Stephen Green of Vodka Pundit fame, I am now doing a beer tasting drunk blogging. The Spaten that I am tasting does not have an alcoholic content published on the bottle just some ugly Hun. It is imported from Munich. It is not bad, no usual Micro-brew aftertaste. (By the way Patriots are up 21-0....thank God the Giants won, more on that in a second). It gets 3 out of 5 Crazed Country Rebel Stars!
HOW 'BOUT NOW?!: What Happened?
HOW 'BOUT NOW?!: What Happened?
Adam links to this troubling article about water consumption going up and beer consumption going down. Well I will have none of this. Last night I had several (uncountable) Michelob Ultra's (only because the Star ran out of Merlot) and I finished up with an Ommegang Abbey Ale. Today I will be trying a Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse which is put out by Spaten.

Golden Star Christmas Party
Is tomorrow if anyone is interested!
By the way, got my itinerary for the Rosebowl today. I leave the hotel for the Hospitality tent at 9:30am for a 2:00pm PST game. This could be bad.

Uconn Bowl Bound Update
Uconn has sold 12,000 of its 12,500 allotment of tickets for the Car Care Bowl.
96%, Let's try to get to 100%! The link will tell you how to by tickets and donate them to local military personnel to go if so inclined.

Oh that lousy economy.
GDP grows 4.9%
In Q3 07.
The MSM would be singing the praises of whatever Clinton was in the Whitehouse if the news came out under one of their administrations.
Me, I look for this lagging indicator to determine how the economy is going. If my neighbors have their houses lit up to the stars around Christmas the economy is chugging along fine. If not, the economy sucks. The North End is lit up bright this year. Heck there is some idiot who lives across the street from the Golden Star who turns on his Christmas lights in the middle of August!

Democrats progressing on extracating the US from Iraq.
I just had to put this in verbatim.
Via Instapundit.
AN IRAQ TURNAROUND: "An astonishing turnaround occurred in the Senate on Tuesday: 70 senators voted to fund the Iraq war with a fresh $70 billion and no strings attached. Think about this a moment. Last winter, after Democrats captured the Senate and House, it seemed likely they'd succeed in limiting or ending the Iraq war, probably by setting a firm timetable for withdrawal of American troops. After all, both President Bush and the war itself were highly unpopular. The Democratic triumph in the election made that clear, even to those who doubted opinion polls. And Democrats made the anti-Iraq crusade their top priority in the new Congress. Now, the 70-vote approval of the war by the Senate represents the breathtaking dimension of their failure."
Or of General Petraeus's success

The Mitchell Report
Is here in its entirety. So they got Clemens & Pettite. Clemens and Pettite respond here (so far). I'm no union guy but I do think the players union should have had the chance to at least look at this report beforehand to adequately comment.
Prediction, based on the people named (who have been rumored before) and no real blockbuster revelation, this will have a shelf life for as long as it takes for the New England Patriots to lose.

Mitchell Report Marketing
From Steiner Sports, $50 gift card if you bought something signed by a player yesterday 12/12 7pm to midnight, who shows up on the Mitchell Report today 12/13. I love the cynacism!
Mitchell Report
Comes out today. I am interested in seeing how many core Yankees from the championship years are named. Will update later on tonight with thoughts (really rants).
Apparently Mitchell is going to fault both MLB & the Players Union. Huh...Duh! It took him 20 months and I don't know how many millions of dollars to come up with that? I could have come up with that in a day and would have done it for a pair of lifetime season tickets to the Yankees.

Bush 37% Congress 22%
While these are not great approval numbers Bush still beats Congress per Gallup (Hat tip to Drudge). Also (Via Instapundit) Jules Crittendon makes a very fair and persuasive case for Bush on the economy and foreign policy. Not that I expect that most of the electorate would understand it. The problem with this administration is that they have the PR skills of a rock.
Can't wait to see if either Barack, Hillary or John take the White House and summarily wreck the American economy by federalizing health care and the real estate industry.

National Intelligence Estimate
Now I don't know if these are all from the same sources and I may be grouping multiple things (and looking at this simplistically) as intelligence but here goes:
2003 - Bush believes intelligence that Iraq had WMD's - he is derided for listening to intelligence.
2007 - Bush doesn't believe intelligence that Iran is pursuing Nuclear weapons - he is derided for not listening to intelligence.
Jimmy to Bush - Don't bother, it is not worth the aggravation anymore.

Greenhouse Update
Directly from Instapundit. Apparently 10,000 people have travelled to Bali to discuss Global Warming. Jeez it's not like they couldn't utilize some sort of Oh, technology and do a webcast and upload it to You Tube. By the way is there any reason that these things always take place in some resort for the rich & famous?
I mean my little burg of Bridgeport, CT could use the economic stimulus. Alas it is about 30 degrees here and overcast. Just a thought.

Happy Repeal Day!
Via Instapundit. Apparently today was the day prohibition was repealed. Reminds me from a line from the John Wayne movie The Quiet Man. John Wayne mentions America & Barry Fitzgerald just shivers and in his brogue says "America....Prohibition" in disgust.
Have a happy!

Well that's Convenient
Via Instapundit
"A new assessment by American intelligence agencies concludes that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in 2003 and that the program remains on hold, contradicting an assessment two years ago that Tehran was working inexorably toward building a bomb."
But what could have happened in 2003 that might have persuaded the Iranians to stop work on a weapon of mass destruction?
Jimmy add's: Could it have occurred in March (my Mother's birthday no less)
